82 - Spanish American War Cannon Mechanical Iron Bank Mid century cast iron mechanical bank by The Book of Knowledge with a cannon and ship/flag depicting the Spanish/US War. The bank features a black cannon mounted on a fort-like structure on one side with the text "U.S." On the other side, there is a warship marked Spain. The mechanism works by placing a coin into the cannon. When the lever is activated, the cannon "fires", launching the coin toward the Spanish ship, where it is deposited into the bank. Patented Feb., 3, 1925 with art by Chicago Tribune editorial cartoonist and 1960 Pulitizer Prize winner, Carey Orr. Complete with 5 illustrated boxes. The Face Corporation, Philadelphia. Side piece of box has a torn off piece. 6 1/2 x 8" approx. Originally filled with chocolate candies, this advertising premium was made by The United Paper Box Mfg. Co. of Cleveland for The Crane Chocolate Co. The game consists of five rectangular boxes printed on all sides that combine to make funny faces. One panel bears the signature by illustrator Carey Orr Patented in 1925 the parlor game is illustrated by political cartoonist Carey Orr of the Chicago Tribune, known for his comic strip Kernel Cootie from the early 1920's Carey Orr met and served as an early role model to Walt Disney when Disney moved back to Chicago. According to Neal Gabler's Walt Disney: The Triumph of the American Imagination, Disney was very impressed by Orr's strip The Tiny Tribune.

It is propelled by using a hand pump action with the handle and can be steered. Sturdy, great original condition, made with metal and wood. 31" long, 21 1/4" tall approx. This handcar would be considered a first edition of ride on car toys as we came to know them.

Scarce apparent First Edition without title page. 16 1/4" x 11 1/4". Printed in full color. This book includes front cover, back cover, and 30 single sided color pages. The covers are as you see, front is detached, back cover is attached but in two pieces. Some small closed edge page tears. Buster was the first comic character to have his strips collected in a book sold nationwide by Sears and Roebuck. Outcault created Buster Brown, his sweetheart Mary Jane, his dog Tige (the first talking animal in comics), and a supporting cast. He drew the first strips, for Joseph Pulitzar’s N.Y. Herald, starting on May 4, 1902. This book followed in 1903.

One panel bears the signature by illustrator Carey Orr Patented in 1925 the parlor game is illustrated by political cartoonist Carey Orr of the Chicago Tribune, known for his comic strip Kernel Cootie from the early 1920's Carey Orr met and served as an early role model to Walt Disney when Disney moved back to Chicago. 230 - 1900's American National Irish Mail Cart Pedal Car Antique Victorian ca 1900 - 1920's Irish Mail Cart, ride on pedal car scooter in working condition. The cart still has original paint decoration and partial label. The label appears to read American, The American National, Toledo Ohio with an American Eagle image. It is propelled by using a hand pump action with the handle and can be steered. Sturdy, great original condition, made with metal and wood. 31" long, 21 1/4" tall approx. This handcar would be considered a first edition of ride on car toys as we came to know them.

Scarce apparent First Edition without title page. 16 1/4" x 11 1/4". Printed in full color. This book includes front cover, back cover, and 30 single sided color pages. The covers are as you see, front is detached, back cover is attached but in two pieces. Some small closed edge page tears. Buster was the first comic character to have his strips collected in a book sold nationwide by Sears and Roebuck. Outcault created Buster Brown, his sweetheart Mary Jane, his dog Tige (the first talking animal in comics), and a supporting cast. He drew the first strips, for Joseph Pulitzar’s N.Y. Herald, starting on May 4, 1902. This book followed in 1903.
