41 - Kadet Trainer BB Rifle Drill Training Parris Mfg Kadet Trainer BB Rifle, manufactured in Savannah, Tennessee. M1903 Springfield style. Key Features: • Built-in dummy round in the receiver for added realism (see photo). • Original wood stock with metal hardware. • Canvas sling has wear. • Buttplate marked: "Kadet Trainer Rifle, Savannah Tennessee Approx. 33" The decal shown below has a distinctive BB on the Trainerifle logo. This does not appear on the early Trainerifle logo’s. Since it has the Kadets of America symbol it probably was used between 1960 and the early 1970’s. There is no documentation that clearly identifies the meaning of the BB letters. It is known that the Parris Mfg. Co. produced a lever action toy rifle that shot either corks or BB’s. Although the model No. 11 bolt action was designed to fire corks, there is no evidence to suggest that any of the later bolt action drill rifles had a mechanism to fire BB’s. Soon after the move to Savannah, Tennessee, the Parris Mfg. Co. started using a wooden cartridge in the front of the bolt. This was spring loaded and retracted into the bolt body when the bolt was closed. As the bolt was opened the gold colored cartridge reappeared. It also applied pressure on the bolt to hold it in the closed position. In later production the wooden cartridge was replaced by a plastic cartridge. Often a cartridge is incorrectly called a bullet. I suspect that this was the case here. It appears that all of their early toy drill rifles had a bayonet lug. The BB may stand for – Bullet & Bayonet.

Left forearm with visible separation but is securely attached on the interior. The appearance is antique bronze with a heavy patina. Some age wear to the marble. He is holding a Caduceus as well as an unusual torch. Some weld marks with a possible repair such as a hat wing tip.

Los Angeles Division Public Relations Department folder (12 1/4 x 9 1/4") with 2 stapled/paperclipped reports (30 pages each) and other inserts including multiple page infomation on the pilots Col. Joseph F. Cotton and Lt. Col. Fitzhugh L. Fulton, Jr. as well as key figures Maj. Gen. Charles H. Terhune Jr., Brig. Gen. Fred J. Ascani, and Col. Marion J. Akers... North American XB-70 Valkyrie The futuristic XB-70A was originally conceived in the 1950s as a high-altitude, nuclear strike bomber that could fly at Mach 3 (three times the speed of sound) -- any potential enemy would have been unable to defend against such a bomber. By the early 1960s, however, new Surface-to-Air Missiles (SAMs) threatened the survivability of high-speed, high-altitude bombers. Less costly, nuclear-armed ICBMs (Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles) were also entering service. As a result, in 1961, the expensive B-70 bomber program was canceled before any Valkyries had been completed or flown. Even so, the USAF bought two XB-70As to test aerodynamics, propulsion and other characteristics of large supersonic aircraft. The first XB-70A, on flew in September 1964, and it achieved Mach 3 flight in October 1965. The second Valkyrie first flew in July 1965, but in June 1966, it was destroyed following an accidental mid-air collision. The third Valkyrie was not completed.

Signed in raised lettering WICKHAM, 7 3/4 x 8" Nancy Wickham was an American Postwar & Contemporary artist whose work has been offered at auction multiple times, with realized prices of up to 11,078. Full or near full size, 2 lbs, 11 oz. approx. 913.2 grams. 7 1/4" tall. Approx. 24" around the outside perimeter. The Imperial Crown of the Holy Roman Empire (German: Reichskrone), a hoop crown (Bügelkrone) with a characteristic octagonal shape, was the coronation crown of the Holy Roman Emperor, probably from the late 10th century until the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire in 1806. The crown was used in the coronation of the King of the Romans, the title assumed by the Emperor-elect immediately after his election. Framed, 19 1/2 x 25 1/2" approx. Robert Furber (1674–1756) was a British horticulturist and writer, best known for writing the first seed catalogue produced in England. Furber's most notable work was Twelve Months of Flowers, published in 1730. The book was written as a catalog of plants and seeds, and featured twelve detailed engravings of seasonal plants in bloom. Henry Fletcher produced each of the twelve hand-colored engravings from paintings by Pieter Casteels.

Colonial almanac printed in Massachusetts by Isaiah Thomas an important printer and patriot at the start of the Revolutionary War. 22 pages, 6 5/8 x 3 7/8" Stitched string bbinding with period notes, chip at spine, woodcuts. Condition in photos. Designated "the second editioni" on the title page. This almanac is the first to have Isaiah Thomas's name on it as a printer. Thomas was one of the most successful printers in America djuring the 18th Century, and was highly regarded for the quality of his typography and printing, and for the sheer quantity of materials he published... Text includes "The Life and Adventures of a Female Soldier" the story of Hannah Snell, a woman who disguised herself as a man in order to serve in the British Navy. A woodcut shows her holding a rifle in military attire. The "American Congress Association" lists the fourteen articles of colonies in response to heavy taxation and injustice by England. Manuscript notes mark several important dates: "Jan.y 25th at Lexington and Concord 19th"; and in margin of the June calendar, "Battle at Charleston 17th." The woodcut on the first page is of an astronomer with his instruments. Isaiah Thomas began printing the New England Almanac in 1775 and managed its publication until 1803. His son continued the Almanac until its final issue in 1819.

A statement of Connecticut's western land claim, drawn up by a committee appointed by the legislature in May 1771; along with legal opinions. Four hundred copies were printed late in 1773 at the expense of the colony. 6x8" approx. 24 consecutive pages with the front cover assumed to be the first pages. Some pages are attached by a single bound string, some are loose. Photos are for description. This report appears to have belonged to J. Lawrence and Fenn Wadsworth, Farmington, bearing signatures. J. Lawrence signature appears to belong to John Lawrence Esq. The Susquehannah Case (1774) refers to a landmark territorial dispute where a commission reported on Connecticut's claim to land in the Wyoming Valley of Pennsylvania, settled by the Susquehanna Company. The dispute was resolved by the 1782 Decree of Trenton, which ruled the land belonged to Pennsylvania. Key Details of the Historical Case: Conflict: Settlers from Connecticut, under the auspices of the Susquehanna Company, claimed land in Pennsylvania based on Connecticut's original charter. Violence: The conflict, sometimes known as the "Pennamite Wars," led to armed confrontations between Connecticut settlers and Pennsylvania claimants. Tryon in 1811, later run by his son Edward K. Tryon and variants like E.K. Tryon & Co. or Tryon Bros.) was one of Philadelphia’s most important gun makers. They produced everything from military contract rifles to high-quality sporting and “Kentucky-style” or plains rifles. They assembled many guns using parts from other makers (barrels, locks, etc.) but put their name on the barrel. Percussion (cap-lock) rifles were made starting in the 1830's and continued into the early 1870's, with most civilian sporting/hunting examples dating to the 1840s–1860s. Not tested.
